Transcription of How to run a quick quote on GetCoveredNJ

Mike:                    Hello, this is Mike at Glenn Insurance. Today I’m going to show you how to do a quote for yourself for the individual health exchange. And just a reminder, this year it’s going to be hosted on Get Covered New Jersey. It’s moving from healthcare.gov, the federal exchange, moving to GetCoveredNewJersey. Not a big deal. It’s just a different platform. The plans will be the same, same Horizon Blue Cross plans, AmeriHealth plans that you’re familiar with. It’s just going to be covered through the New Jersey site.

Once you’re at the site, you’ll use the shortcut to get started. And in this case, I’ll just say I’m new to the marketplace. I’ll click that top one. We’re in Absecon, so I’ll just use that for now and I’ll just make up a birthday. So I’ll say 5/22 and in this case I’ll just say it’s a single person and I’ll make up an income. We’ll just say $30,000.

One thing I want to mention here, it’s important to get as close as you can to the income that you expect to make next year. It is a guess, but the income will dictate how much your tax credit is and New Jersey is offering more money on top of the federal credit so the prices should be even lower if you can qualify. From here, it’s important to click “check for savings”. Even if you don’t think you’ll save money, you should click that.

As we go through, based on that income this subscriber is eligible for up to $370 per month for a federal credit. And then New Jersey is offering an additional $40 per month credit. So that will reduce your premium dollar for dollar up to that amount. So that’s $410 in this case, which is pretty significant. So I’m going to click through here and, my opinion, I always just skip this and go right to the plans.

So up here, it shows the summary. I can save up to $410 per month, and then it shows the plans that I can choose from. So you can just click through here and you can look at all the different prices and plans, but that’s just a quick high level view on how to get quotes for yourself for this year. Of course, I can help you at Glenn Insurance. You can always reach out to me directly, but if you want to play around with the rates, this is an easy way to do it without registering or sharing any of your personal information on the web.

So that’s it. Hope everyone has a great day. Thanks. Bye-bye.
